Meet your Innkeeper

Kathy Zimmerman

“E Komo Mai” Welcome to your home in the Islands!

My name is Kathy Zimmerman.  I have two wonderful kids, one brother, one sister, and a puppy.  I am looking forward to working in the hospitality industry.  I have been involved in serving the public in the cleaning industry since 1978 as an employee and starting in 1987 as a business owner.  In those years I cleaned everything from carpet and upholstery to acoustic ceilings and draperies to smoke damaged appliances and furnishings in homes.
During those years, I found that the people I worked with brought me the most personal rewards.  I helped to found a local chapter of a national cleaning association, and eventually became the president of that association.  Working with other business people and helping them to succeed and to avoid when possible some of the mistakes I made brought me great satisfaction.
Even after I moved on and left association leadership to "new blood", I found that even the relationships I had with my customers to be very rewarding.   I miss working for those people, and hope that today they are in good hands with the cleaners from my area that I know.
I was also owner operator of two movie theatres, one a drive in and the other a twin indoor.  What fun they were!
While I'm entirely satisfied, (in fact overjoyed!) to leave the pressures of running 3 businesses behind me, I look forward to having a job that allows me to still clean things (I love making things look better and last longer!) and to again be a "people pleaser".
My hobbies include reading, beading, watching movies, bowling, keeping in touch with friends and family on the mainland, and exploring this beautiful island.
There is something very spiritual and energizing about living in the village of Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. Big Island is the largest of the main 8 H awaiian islands and is also the youngest. It was formed by five volcanoes. Two are still active: Mauna Loa and Kilauea, the world's most continuously active volcano. Volcano Village is in a rain forest approximately one mile from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The village is very picturesque and we are pleased to share our knowledge of it and the surrounding area with you during your stay. Forest hiking trails, black sand beaches and a world class art center are just minutes away. Join me for a hike or let me help you with reservations, activity planning and finding those special places off the beaten path that will make your vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii a cherished memory of a lifetime.
We welcome you and your family to this special place with our warmest aloha!
